Dear Panther Families,
As you know, today, Normangee ISD conducted a pre-scheduled safety drill for all campuses. These safety drills are vital for us to continue to provide the safest learning environment possible for our students and staff. Please know that your child’s safety is our top priority, as we have their best interest in mind with everything that we do. We will continue to communicate with our families as we work together to provide our students with an excellent, and very safe, school experience.
In addition, all public school districts are required to provide information about safe storage of firearms to parents and guardians multiple times a year. Please take a moment to read the attached letters (English Letter / Spanish Letter) regarding safe storage of firearms.
On another note, I’d like to thank our families for their positive partnership, as Normangee ISD has had an outstanding start to our school year. Our teachers are working together and teaching high levels of instruction, our students are learning and building friendships with one another and everyone’s spirits are up. From all of the extracurricular activities that are being provided for our students, families and community to the good work happening in our classrooms on a daily basis, we know that great things are happening here in NISD. I recently read a story to all of our elementary students called All Are Welcome by Alexandra Penfold and Suzanne Kaufman and that really is the wonderful thing about Normangee ISD - all are welcome.
I’d like to encourage you to take a few minutes to view our NISD Facebook and NISD Website. Our team has been very intentional about reestablishing these digital platforms so we can further provide positive and relevant communication with our families. Looking ahead to next week, it offers the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 - October 15). Please join me as we recognize and celebrate this beautiful culture together as a community.
As always, thank you for your support for Normangee ISD and our teachers, staff and students.
We’re better together,
Justin Vercher
