On Friday, September 30th, local Texas Highway Patrol officers visited with Normangee High School students to discuss the dangers of distracted driving. The officers went through the importance of students being aware of their surroundings and the driving conditions in which they are driving. They spoke of the risk that students take by being on their phones and not completely focused on the road and on the risk of other distractions that could occur with numerous people in the vehicle with them. Students were given the chance to ask questions of the officers and interact with them.
Thank you to Sergeant Joel Smith, Trooper Justin Reese, Trooper Michael Ogden and Trooper William MacMillan for taking time out of their busy schedules to come talk to our students. Thank you also to Chief Mordecai for helping arrange this meeting.
