At the April board meeting, the NISD School Board voted to adopt the new compensation plan for the 2023-2024 school year. This compensation plan increases pay and benefits for all employees from teachers to custodians to educational aides! This was the largest compensation increase ever approved by NISD.
The Board of Trustees constantly prioritizes supporting our staff and strives to set the bar for teacher's pay in our area. There is no secret that Texas is facing a teacher shortage! This compensation plan is one small step to help retain the teachers and staff we appreciate so much.
The compensation plan includes the following:
- Increasing the starting salary for teachers from $38,625 to $44,000
- This new pay scale provides at minimum a 10% raise for all teachers
- 8% raise for all other employee groups
- Increase to the employer contribution for healthcare
- Additional local leave days
